Musicians 2014

Electrocutango (Norway)

Electrocutango is considered on of the most dynamic, innovative and original expressions of the new electro-tango movement. The sound is identified as tango with an update rather than electronica with exotic seasoning. The music has a distinct identity based on tanguero musicianship and with an original approach to fusions with anything from Puerto Rico, Brazil, RnB, DnB, jazz or contemporary music. Its even a hit in Buenos Aires even though its from Norway …!

Behind Electrocutango is the norwegian pianist and composer/arranger Sverre Indris Joner. He early began to play and compose music with emphasis on the latin genres. He writes for ballet, theatre, orchestra, film and has arranged numerous tangos and other latin genres for symphony orchestra performing as a soloist.
He is also founder of the quartet Tango For 3 that is renowned for its interpretation of a wide range of titles from ABBA, James Bond, Grieg & Brahms to Salgan and Triolo.

Unlike traditional tango the improvisation is a central element in Electrocutango´s music. And different from most electronic tangos Electrocutango is basicly tanguero fusioned with all the rest – not the other way around… And when a lot of fun and unexpected fusions are thrown on top that makes it a real ball! And not surprisingly – the tango-dancers takes the challenge!

The album Felino is already considered a classic within the electronic tango genre.

Electrocutango made the award-winning music for in the innovative play Tanghost in collaboration with choreographer Pablo Veron and director Per Olav Sørensen

Singer Vita Krieviņa (Latvia)

After several  years of tango dancing and listening to the beautiful music, Vita was inspired by the melody, dramatic nature, expressiveness and sensitiveness of this particular music genre, as well as female tango voices from Argentina: Maria Volonte, Claudia Pannone, Mercedes Simone and many others.

Vita says: "Singing for tango dancers is always very special because we know, that we share the same passion and the deepest understanding of this beautiful music.

Singing tango songs is another way of feeling myself in tango. Every song moves a story along with an insight into feelings: nostalgia, passion, sadness, and joy in turn. The only way to deliver it is singing without pretense. This is the moment of truth, when the soul meets a soul. This is what I would like to share with the audience."

Vita has performed with the tango quartert Undertango and has received a lot of applauses in Tango Sun Festival (Latvia).

This time Vita will perform for us together with the piano player from Undertango - Martins Zilberts and the violin player Dzintars Beitans

The debut of trio will be on Friday evening traditional milonga, January 10, in the hall of Riga Volunteer Firemen Society: J.Asaru Street 13, Riga.

The violin player Dzintars Beitans (Latvia)

Dzintars Beitāns is a professional violin player. He plays different genre music - symphonic, camermusic as well as tango and jazz.

He got acquainted with tango music thanks to the Argentinian singer Rolando Pomo from Sweden, who had a wish to record CD. The CD was recorded in Buenos Aires together with Fernando Marzan Quintett. Later they have made together concerts in Riga, Denmark and Sweden.

Dzintars say about tango:
it is a rich music with very colorful musical language.
